Halle für Kunst Lüneburg

Halle für Kunst is a space for contemporary art, housed in a former industrial building in the city of Lüneburg. With a new directorship the “Halle” also reorganized itself spatially. The ambition was on the one hand to reconsider the various uses of the space, and on the other hand to represent the institution in a new way.

The venue is organized around a central hall, with one small extra room and storage space. Within the main hall exhibition space and office are conceived as a whole and the boundary between front- and backstage gets dissolved. Depending on the exhibition design, the new system of modular furniture is both used for office work and as exhibition furniture. It includes one large table, a set of stools, a bench or display and a standing table. Within the extra room the existing bathroom is combined with a small kitchen and a back office.

The project was realized within a minimal budget and therefore with the craftsmen who normally do the exhibition scenography.
